I read Fly on the Wall by E. Lockhart again last night. I hadn’t read it in years. Since I own the Dutch translation and am always curious about how certain things are described in the original language, I decided to try to download a digital version of the original book.
In the Dutch version, the main character’s name is Sarah Yi.
A few minutes ago I discovered that in the English version, her name is GRETCHEN YEE.
WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THE NAME OF THE MAIN CHARACTER? WHYYY??? I am DEVASTATED. Someone’s name can change your whole picture of them. The name Gretchen doesn’t suit the character in my head AT ALL, but it’s her actual name. Her name was never supposed to be Sarah. I’m going to track Jeske Nelissen, the translator, ask her WHY and HIT HER IN THE FACE. I just don’t understand. Why would anyone change the name of the main character? The entire content of my brains is turned upside down.
